Mrs. Hazel Lynn Harrell, age 97, of Hazlehurst, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Pineland Personal Care Home.
Mrs. Harrell was born July 17, 1917 in Cook County to the late John and Ella Joiner. Mrs. Harrell was a native of Lenox, Ga. where she began her teaching career at age 18. She attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran Ga. before graduating from Georgia Southern University, formerly South Georgia Teachers College. In her later years, she attended the University of Georgia and received her certification for Special Education. In 1999 she was selected Retired Teacher of the Year. Hazel was a patient teacher to many children during her career and was loved by many and adored by all.
Services will be held Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 3:00pm at First United Methodist Church of Hazlehurst with Visitation to be held one hour prior to service. Rev. Bobby Gale will officiate and Mr. Jeffery Spell will give the Eulogy. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by ten Brothers and Sisters, Husband, Ben Lynn and Tommy Harrell and Son, Roger Lynn.
Survivors include her Daughter, Cheryl A. Lynn of Moultrie, Ga.; Daughter-In-Law, Carolyn Lynn of Hazlehurst; Granddaughter, Lisa Renee LaTour of Chattanooga, Tn., Beverly and John Brown of Clearwater FL., Melinda Ferrell of Fayetteville; Grandsons, Craig Lynn of Moultrie, Dave Smith of Hazlehurst, Billy and Michelle Payne of Indianapolis, IN., and Frank Bragg Jr. of Annapolis, MD.; Great-Granddaughters, Valarie Oscar of Chattanooga, TN, Carmen Leggett of Hazlehurst and Monica Housley of Blackshear; Great-Grandson, Marcus Lynn of Cullman, AL; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Logan Leggett, Caleb Leggett, Sunni Housley, Keely Payne and Levi Payne and several nieces and nephews also survived.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Hazel Lynn Harrell, age 97, of Hazlehurst.

Roger Lynn, age 71, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, March 01, 2015 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Lynn was born June 12, 1943 in Bridgeport Connecticut to the late Benjamin Lynn. He was a Graduate of Norman College and Valdosta State College with a Master’s Degree in Education. He was a retired School Teacher having taught in the Colquitt County School System, Moultrie Technical School and he worked with students and adults in the GED program. He was elected as Teacher of the Year at Charlie H. Gray Middle School in his early years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, member of the Masonic Lodge of Moultrie, Georgia and member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn B. Lynn of Hazlehurst; Daughter, Lisa Renee LaTour of Chattanooga, Tn.; Step-Daughter, Melinda Ferrell of Fayetteville, Ga.; Son, Craig Lynn of Moultrie; Step-Son, Frank Bragg, Jr of Annapolis, Md.; Mother, Hazel Joiner Harrell of Hazlehurst; Sister, Cheryl Lynn of Moultrie; Two Grandchildren, Valarie Oscar of Tn. and Marcus Lynn of Al.; Four Step-Grandchildren also survived.
Visitation will be held Wednesday at 10:00am at First United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 04, 2015 at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Gale and Rev. Russell Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Carole Dukes Stone passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 17th her husband and children with her.
Carole was born October 15, 1940 in Atlanta, GA, and lived most of her life in Appling and Jeff Davis Counties. She was a graduate of Appling County High School and Georgia Southwestern College. She served 30 years with the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services in the Dublin, Douglas and Hazlehurst offices.
Carole was a life long member of the United Methodist Church, the past 40 plus years at Hazlehurst First UMC. She was a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women and served her church in numerous positions including the Board of Trustees and Staff-Parish Committees. She had a near perfect attendance for those 40 years.
Carole was married to Bayne Stone in 1961. They have three children: Rob (Jan) Stone, Dan (Rhonda) Stone, and Meg Minchew. There are six grandchildren: Brantley and Ethan Stone, Duke Stone, and Stone, Jake, and Maggie Minchew. Also surviving is one nephew, John Stephen Dukes.
Carole was the daughter of the late Juanita and John Wilson Dukes. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, her brother John Watson Dukes.
Services for Carole will be Saturday at Hazlehurst First UMC at 11:30am. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 – 8:00 at Wainright and Parlor Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.
